🍗 Southern Fried Chicken
A classic comfort food popular across the United States, especially in the South.
Ingredients (Serves 4)

8 chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or breasts)

2 cups buttermilk

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp paprika
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)

Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions

Marinate the chicken
Place chicken in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (overnight is best). -
Prepare the coating
In another bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne. -
Coat the chicken
Remove chicken from buttermilk. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing firmly to coat well. -
Heat the oil
Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C). -
Fry the chicken
Fry 3–4 pieces at a time for 12–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. -
Drain & Serve
Place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or cornbread.
